The two-day meeting was held in the Algarve. The digital challenges and opportunities for the sector were under discussion.

Luís Teixeira, Sales Manager of F. Rego – Corretores de Seguros, was one of the guest speakers at the 17th Congress of APAT – Associação dos Transitários de Portugal (Portuguese Freight Forwarders’ Association), held in the Algarve last November. Luís Teixeira attended the debate held on the first day of the congress, under the theme “The Freight Forwarder Activity in the Digital Economy” and declared that “the problem is the lack of initiative rather than resistance from companies”, on how companies in the sector are facing the digital challenge.

The 17th APAT Congress, gathered the sector’s prominent Portuguese players in the city of Faro to discuss the challenges and opportunities that mark the distribution and transport.

At the meeting, the chairman of APAT’s general meeting, Mr. António Dias, had the opportunity to ensure that “freight forwarders are not supposed to disappear”, but need to find ways to deal with the challenges of the digital world.
